Milan Pawelec sets the Tor Poznań lap record – 12 wins for Wójcik Racing Team

Racing in Wójcik Racing Team colours, 19-year-old Milan Pawelec not only won both races of round four of the Polish WMMP championship in the Superbike class, he also made history by setting a new Tor Poznań lap record on Sunday. All told, Grzegorz Wójcik's riders took 12 wins over the weekend.

The reigning Polish and European champion had already lowered the Poznań lap record several times, but on Sunday he outdid himself — and did it in the race rather than in qualifying. Riding a Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade, the rider from Nowy Tomyśl broke the magic one-minute-thirty barrier, stopping the clock at 1:29.969 on lap three of twelve in race two. At the finish, the 19-year-old twice beat his teammate and Superbike championship leader, Artur Wielebski #16.

Mateusz Molik #7, the reigning Polish champion in Superstock 1000 and Supersport 600, was also unbeaten in front of his home crowd. The Poznań rider again entered both categories and won both races in each, switching from the Honda CBR1000RR to the CBR600RR. Three wins went to team junior Kacper Wójcik, who took two Sport 300 victories on a Honda CB500 and, aboard a Honda CBR600RR, finished second and then first the following day in Sport 600 — he leads the standings in both classes. Bartosz Bambecki also won three times at Poznań, taking both Superstock 600 races and Sunday's Supersport 300 race.

"This weekend will stay with us for a long time, because our riders won 12 races in total," says team boss Grzegorz Wójcik. "Milan made history with a new lap record, Mateusz won four races, and our juniors not only won in different categories but also set new personal bests along the way. It shows that as a team we keep developing and making progress. Huge thanks to Honda for supplying excellent motorcycles, to the whole team for their hard work, and to all the fans who turned up at the circuit in such numbers on Sunday."

The fifth and final round of the Polish championship and Cup takes place at Poznań on the second weekend of September, and just a week from now Mateusz Molik and Bartosz Bambecki will race in Wójcik Racing Team colours in round five of the European Stock championship at Valencia — where Milan Pawelec will also defend his Moto2 title. In the second half of September, Grzegorz Wójcik's riders will fight for the FIM EWC world title at the 24-hour Bol d'Or at France's Circuit Paul Ricard. We're keeping our fingers crossed from the Soshi Moto workshop in Kielce, where we service and prepare motorcycles every day.
